'Big Brother 17' Evicted The House Scapegoat

by Allison Piwowarski

It's been a long time coming, but Audrey has officially been evicted from the Big Brother 17 house. Weeks after she stirred up the game a little too much, the houseguests all bonded together to evict her from the game leaving the house with a little more peace and a lot more problems (in my opinion). Audrey caught a case of the dreaded Big Brother Superfan Syndrome, which entails playing the game too hard, too quick. Instead of keeping a low profile, Audrey got into the habit of lying just to lie, which really came back to bite her. Audrey, I wanted to like you so much, you just played a really sloppy game.

At the very start of the game, Audrey seemed like she was going to be a threat. She started the first alliance of the season with Shelli and Da'Vonne (the girl power alliance, may it rest in peace), and I thought, Oh wow, she's really playing this game. That's when it all came to a halt because instead of staying loyal to her alliance, Audrey made more and more alliances and didn't show loyalty to all of them. Word got around that Audrey was saying this and that about people who thought they were aligned with Audrey, and her entire game blew up in her face.

Fast forward weeks later, and Audrey was still — somehow — standing. She laid low while the HOHs went after "bigger threats." While Audrey hadn't proved herself to be a competition threat, she did prove to be an unreliable houseguest, which is just as scary in this game. It was difficult to know who she was telling the truth to and it was almost impossible to tell how she was going to vote, and an unpredictable houseguest is just as scary as someone who can win a ton of competitions.

Ultimately, Audrey's lack of loyalty and paranoia is what led her to eviction. Shelli, Vanessa, and Clay, those who seemed to fight for Audrey the most, lost trust in her. It's particularly frustrating because these were people who would have kept her safe, but instead, Audrey lost their trust over and over again.

Audrey leaving the house will probably have some reverberations. The house might seem calm after she leaves, but now the houseguests will have to find a new scapegoat. Audrey was the go-to "threat", nomination, and gossiper. When that drama starts brewing, people are going to be looking around for Audrey to blame things on. Well, that blame is going to have to be put on someone else (probably Steve).

We'll dissect everything she did wrong — the list is long — and also look back on her rather unique strategy going into the house.
