Chuck & Gabriel Talk All Things 'Supernatural'

by Allyson Koerner

Gather 'round Supernatural fans, because it's time to go down memory lane with Chuck Shurley/Carver Edlund and The Trickster/Gabriel from the hit CW series. Ever since they said their goodbyes to Sam and Dean, fans have missed these two characters immensely. Though Gabriel and Chuck bid adieu in Season 5, thankfully, they've made surprise appearances here and there. In real life, Supernatural favorites Rob Benedict and Richard Speight Jr. are best friends and luckily, both are willing to dish about all things relating to the show.

First, and most importantly, both Benedict and Speight reveal they still watch Supernatural, even though they are a little behind. Funnily enough, they learn about new episodes, characters, and plotlines through the fans, especially when hitting up conventions. With that said, they still have some advice for Dean and Sam when it comes to the Mark of Cain the Winchester brothers can't seem to get rid of. Better yet, Benedict and Speight offer advice as their Supernatural characters, Chuck and Gabriel. Benedict says Chuck would "recommend a lot of Vitamin C" and also tell the Winchesters, "This is why you don't leave the house."

So, what about Gabriel? Well, he'd definitely be a bit more relaxed about having a curse that turns you into a serial killer and a demon. "I would just say uncork the scotch and forget it," Speight says. "I feel like there's no stress in life that appearing in a good porno wouldn't smooth over, you know what I mean? I feel like I would steer [Dean] to the side of just ring up the bevy of babes and let's get this party started, and don't worry about this stupid Mark of Cain and first blade and blah, blah, blah. Demon schmemon. There's a party going on — let's get to it."

Just like Sam and Dean, Benedict and Speight have quite the bromance. However, they don't have anything on Ackles and Padalecki, at least according to them. Speight says it's "impossible" for his bromance with Benedict to ever outshine Ackles and Padalecki's. "I think we're a nice diversion from their bromance...man, they've been in the trenches together for coming up on 11 years," he adds. "Robbie and I are five, and we don't work every day on the same show, so I think they trump us pretty solidly. However, I put us at a strong number two."

Benedict agrees and says, "We're a good complimentary side dish." Speight also feels, "We are a strong, much more compact, travel size, number two bromance."

Now, if we could only figure out a way to bring back Gabriel and Chuck, so they can finally share a scene together and fans can see their bromance shine on the small screen. Since Benedict and Speight are real-life best friends, that would make for another great Supernatural moment. Until then, at least we have their exciting new project, Kings of Con.
