Eden xo Just Dropped Your New Life Anthem

by Alex Kritselis

It's here, it's here! On Monday, rising pop star Eden xo premiered her new single, "The Weekend," and it's destined to become your new life anthem. The bouncy, up-tempo track preaches the importance of working hard AND playing hard — which is definitely something we all need to be reminded of from time to time. In fact, many of the song's lyrics seem to parallel Eden's own music industry journey thus far. The 25-year-old artist has worked tirelessly to get to where she is today — and I don't think she plans on stopping anytime soon!

On the first verse and pre-chorus, Eden sings:

Started from the bottom with a plan to get rich

So I could chill every day like one bad b*#$!

But I'm stuck in the middle and I'm tryna get by

Yeah we all need a little, a little break sometimes

Oh my God, it's the weekend

Hands up for the weekend

Oh my God, it's the weekend

Hands up for the weekend

If you love the TV show Friends, you're going to go crazy for this chorus:

We can let go, sippin' rosé

On that poolside Mandalay Bay

Wanna be friends, Phoebe Buffay

Can't get enough of my hot tamale

Oh my God, it's the weekend

Hands up for the weekend

Oh my God, it's the weekend

Like every day...

It's ridiculously catchy, right? I can't get it out of my head! I don't think the song will have any trouble getting played on top 40 radio, that's for sure. If you're obsessed with "The Weekend" like I am and want to hear more music from Eden, be sure to check out her debut single, "Too Cool to Dance," as well. The singer's as-yet-untitled new EP is scheduled to be released sometime in March.

"The Weekend" will be available on iTunes on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
