Whether you are a fan of Adam Levine as a person or not, it's hard to argue that the guy isn't crazy talented. From the early days of Maroon 5 (I'm talking "She Will Be Loved") to his residency as a coach on The Voice, Levine has built quite a resume for himself. Well, he just added another huge accomplishment to that list, as Adam Levine is set to perform at the 2015 Oscars this February. And judging by his past performances, Levine is the perfect musician to take to the stage for the Academy Awards.
Levine will be performing "Lost Stars" form Begin Again, which is nominated for Best Original Song at the 2015 Academy Awards. The song is up against "Everything is Awesome" from The LEGO Movie, "Glory" from Selma, "Grateful" from Beyond the Lights, and "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" from Glen Campbell... I'll Be Me. Levine is the first performer announced, while other artists have been in talks of performing. (Rita Ora has been rumored to perform "Grateful," while I think we can all say we'd love to see John Legend and Common perform "Glory.")
Here is a look at Adam Levine's best live performances to prove he is the perfect choice as a performer at the Academy Awards. (Plus, Doesn't "Adam Levine" sound an awful lot like "Adele Dazeem?" It's meant to be.)
"Lost Stars" On The Voice
Levine performed "Lost Stars" on The Voice back in December with contestant Matt McAndrew. All I can say is, damn, those falsettos.
"Payphone" Live Acoustic
This setting proves that Levine doesn't need the big Hollywood set and background to sound great. And while he'll probably have all of that glitz and glamour at the Oscars, it's nice to know he doesn't need it.
"Untitled (How Does It Feel)" On The Voice
I just want people to know that a version of D'Angelo's "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" performed by Usher and and Levine does in fact exist, and it is good. Like, really good.
"Animals" On The Voice
Levine is a pro when it comes to performing in front of huge crowds, plus there are some famous faces in the audience to prep him for the bevy of famous faces that will be watching him at the Oscars.
"Moves Like Jagger" At The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
Not only does this performance show that he doesn't use a strong backtrack (he goes au naturel when it comes to live performances), but it also shows that he knows how to have fun on stage. And let me tell you, if there is a chance, in some glorious alternate universe, that The LEGO Movie is going to have a performance of "Everything is Awesome," Levine is going to need to really be able to take over the stage.
