Did Someone Die On the 'Jane the Virgin' Finale?

by Allison Piwowarski

It wouldn't be a winter finale of a telenovela if there wasn't a death — or at least a probable death. If you didn't stick around until the final moments of Jane the Virgin , you might have missed Alba's potential death fall, courtesy of Petra's mom. Yeah, let's talk about that. Are they killing off Alba? On one hand, I'm surprised it has taken this long for a main character to face a potential death. On the other hand, why must it be Alba?

Alba, who was a little tipsy from imbibing at the Telenovela award party the hotel hosted, wandered off to Petra's room to give her a piece of her mind. You go, Alba! But really, GO ALBA, IT'S NOT SAFE! Alba walked in on Petra and her mother's hostage, realized what was going on, and was pushed away by Petra's mother. Alba realized she saw something she wasn't supposed to see and was clearly a little thrown by it, so she ran off to the stairs to get away.

That's when it happened. That's when Petra's mom got out of her wheelchair, shoved Alba down the stairs, and Alba rolled down the stairs, possibly to her death.

But why! Why, CW, did you pick Alba? What did she do to you? Was she too into Rogelio's show? Did you feel threatened? She did not deserve this. The whole scene was definitely left with the opportunity for Alba to survive the fall — probably with no memory of who pushed her, since that's an additional mystery — but we won't find that out until the show picks up again in January.

If Alba doesn't survive the fall, her death will surely bring Jane's world crashing down. It could bring her and Rafael closer together, or it could totally make Jane slow down their relationship and focus on her and her mother, Xo.
