Not long ago, one of our favorite couples, Danny and Mindy of The Mindy Project, were talking marriage. Well, they were sort of talking marriage, Mindy was talking about it in her diary, and Danny read the diary — they haven't actually had the talk yet. On Tuesday's episode, the two came one step closer to moving towards moving in together — which seems to be the next step for their relationship, but things didn't end on the highest of notes.
When Mindy got word that Danny was looking to expand his current apartment into the one next door for "family," she assumed that that family included her and their potential future children. Not too crazy to think. After she learns this little factoid though, she swiftly evicts Peter from the apartment — where he just recently moved into — considering only her future. One thing leads to another and Mindy finds out that Danny was talking about his Ma, which obviously devastates Mindy (and me).
Danny knows Mindy is all in on their relationship, which Peter reminds him of, so instead of avoiding the conversation, he confronts Mindy about moving in. He says, "he wants to give it a try," which is kind of a weak attempt at communication, but it's Danny. That's when Mindy delivers the best line of the night. "I just want to be with someone who is as excited and certain as I am about our future, and if you're not, that's fine, just let me know. Because honestly, I'm going to be fine no matter what happens."
Damn. Right. Mindy. You're going to be just fine with or without Danny, because you are a strong, independent woman. Although I love these two together, and have every intention to throw a Mindy-esque bridal shower if the two characters get married ever, Mindy's message about her independence is awesome. For a character that often relies on men, this quote is proof that Mindy Lahiri can't be messed with.
