Annalise Questions Sam And It Might Get Ugly

by Allison Piwowarski

We were teased that Viola Davis' last nine words of Thursday's How To Get Away With Murder would be shocking, but this? We already knew — because we are super sleuths — that Sam Keating was involved with Lila, romantically and probably also her murder (probably), but it was only a matter of time until HTGAWM super woman, Annalise Keating, figured it all out. And as the promotions promised, the last nine words were shocking — "Why is your penis on a dead girl's phone?" — in more ways than one.

First of all, Wes finally gave Annalise the phone that Rebecca had left in his bathroom. It took him a while, but he did, and as he said, the wait was worth it because now Rebecca trusts them. And now that Annalise knows for sure that Sam was involved with Lila — let's assume that peen pics on the phone equal an affair, because I don't see him just sending them for the hell of it, but who knows with this show — it seems like Sam's death makes more and more sense.

The scene was perfect. Annalise was taking off her makeup, her hair, her jewelry — also, can we just bask in Davis' beauty for a moment — when the bomb was dropped. "Sam, why is your penis on a dead girl's phone?" end scene, of course. But if the preview for next Thursday was any indication, things are going to get ugly between Annalise and Sam after the confrontation.

In next Thursday's preview, a physical altercation begins — and by physical altercation, I mean Sam seems to attack Annalise — and that could explain why Sam is now pieces of Sam in the back woods, courtesy of the law students. If Annalise is involved in his murder, in some way, she might just be waiting until the right moment to take Sam out. We've been wondering who was going to have the immunity idol at the time of the murder, but here's a thought: Annalise always has the immunity idol.

At what lengths is Annalise willing to go to to protect her career, her name, and her life? We'll have to wait a little bit longer to find out. But now that Viola now knows that Sam was having an affair with Lila, and Detective Nate knows that Sam's alibi doesn't check out the night Lila was killed, a lot of the arrows are all pointing to Sam for being responsible for her death.
