These Are The Top Party Schools of 2016

by Lily Feinn

Think you had some pretty epic parties in college? The Princeton Review has released its list of top party schools in 2016, and congratulations University of Wisconsin-Madison, you are number one in fun! The rankings, which came out Monday in the Review’s annual edition of The Best 381 Colleges, may leave some incoming freshman looking for a good time disappointed in their choice of institution. University of Georgia, which last year ranked at number eight, and University of California-Santa Barbara (UCSB), which came in at number six, have dropped off the list entirely. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, whose “Tuesday wine nights” and lenient carding at local bars got it the first seat in 2016, has dropped all the way down to third place. What went so very wrong, guys?

To determine which campus partied hardest this year, 143,000 college students across the country filled out an intense 80-question survey (while doing a keg-stand, I hope?). The 381 colleges represented were rated on everything from their financial aid to food options on-campus and, of course, the social scene. While not every 18-year-old wants to be on a campus that is round-the-clock raging, if you are looking for schools with party culture, this list is a good place to start.

Break out those red Solo cups and check out this year’s schools with a high GPA (“great party always”):

1. University of Wisconsin-Madison

If you are looking for a good house party scene this Wisconsin school will not disappoint! Their new #1 ranking gives the students at UWM one more thing to celebrate this week — as if they needed an excuse to rage.

2. West Virginia University

WVU is no stranger to the top ten list, and as long as there is beer pong to be played they're not going anywhere.

3. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Last year's top party school has been knocked down a few rungs. Maybe it was all that studying?

4. Lehigh University

Lehigh and its "work hard, play hard" motto has been working it's way steadily up the list for years. I see great things in this college's flip cup future.

5. Bucknell University

Dropping from fourth place in 2016 to the fifth slot must be disappointing. This year they will have to try harder to put the "liberal" back into liberal arts college. Do it for Bucky the Bison.

6. University of Iowa

From last year's second hardest partying school all the way down to sixth place. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

7. University of Mississippi

University of Mississippi has finally made it to the top ten list! The "Rebels" are finally living up to their team name.

8. Syracuse University

Syracuse was #1 in 2014 with popular Greek life, basketball (and requisite tailgating), and campus-hosted parties. We know you guys can get back to the top with a little more beer!

9. Tulane University

A lesson in burlesque? Dang.

10. Colgate University

This just goes to show that a vigorous academic schedule need not detract from getting yo' drink on! Congrats Colgate for making the top ten!
