Ruling the red carpet is kind of the Kardashian/Jenner clan's "thing," and Kylie Jenner's 2015 American Music Award outfit is absolutely no exception. Wearing head-to-toe black (as per usual) Jenner's outfit featured a leather dress with loads of silver chains and... arm bands? Yep, the reality TV personality went a little alternative with her accessorizing, choosing to wrap her biceps in black leather as well.
The 2014 AMAs featured one of Jenner's most iconic looks yet: turquoise tips in her hair, overlined lips, a major side slit in her burgundy gown, and a gold grill on her teeth. Those blueish streaks helped make the launch of Jenner's line of hair extensions a huge success, and "Kylie Jenner AMA 2015 makeup" yields a cool 324,000 results on Google. So will her 2015 look make as big of a splash? I'm thinking yes.
You see, the black armband has a particularly somber history, often used to signify that the wearer is in mourning. Most famously in the United States, black armbands were the centerpiece of the Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District U.S. Supreme Court case in 1969. The school tried to punish a group of students who wore black armbands in protest of the Vietnam war, but the Court ultimately decided that wearing the armbands fell under the students' First Amendment rights.
So far, Jenner hasn't indicated that her armbands have any particular meaning besides looking kinda cool.
Her shoes are pretty rad as well.
Prior to the carpet, Jenner posted a video on Snapchat with the caption "eyebrows lookin fleeky." Fleeky they are, indeed — and Kendall looks amazing too.
Everything Kylie does tends to become a trend. Let's see if fancy black armbands take off.
