After the New York Times declared granny panties a trend in feminist underthings, Millennials on the Internet chimed in with their support for bigger knickers, along with some arguments that just as there's no one type of feminist, there's no one type of feminist underwear. But do you know who didn't have a say in this whole thing? The grannies of the world. To call these lacy, high waisted bits of silk granny panties without confirming that they are, indeed, the underwear choice of grandmothers everywhere seemed a bit presumptuous.
So we gave Sandy, 72, Anita, 52, and Pat, 75, some of those lacy, silky things and asked them to share their thoughts. As lingerie talk often does, the discussion shifted from choice of clothing to choices in the bedroom — and these three had a lot to talk about. They're still having sex (quite often, for most) and they have plenty of advice for us granny panty wearing 20-somethings who've only just started our sex lives. After all, going through menopause means a whole lot less to worry about when it comes to getting it on.
