This Isn't The First Time We've Been To 'Quantico'

by Allison Piwowarski

If there's one thing ABC knows how to do, it's come up with great dramas. Joining the ranks of How to Get Away With Murder, Scandal, American Crime, and Once Upon a Time is Quantico. Taking place at the FBI Academy, Quantico follows young recruits through training, even though one of them is a mole, capable of executing the biggest terrorist attack on the New York City since September 11. Named Quantico, and taking place in Quantico, you might be wondering if Quantico is a real place, or just made up for the series. Not only is it a real place, but it's been the setting of some pretty successful shows and films.

Quantico is an ensemble cast, led by Priyanka Chopra's Alex, who looks like a total badass. She is an FBI trainee who works with the new recruits — even has an affair with one. We learn, through a series of flash forwards and flashbacks, that one of the recruits is suspected of being a threat to the safety of the United States by possibly masterminding a terrorist attack post-FBI Academy. The season will follow the recruits during their time at Quantico.

Quantico is located in Virginia. It is the headquarters of the Marine Corps, FBI Academy, Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS), and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. And this is not the first time a movie or TV show has been set there.

The Silence of the Lambs

In The Silence of the Lambs, Clarice Starling is pulled from her training at Quantico with the FBI Academy to go meet with cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter. While she doesn't spend much time there, it is used as the same setting as Quantico.

Criminal Minds

If you're anything like me and marathon-watch Criminal Minds episodes on Netflix on the weekends, then you're very familiar with Quantico. This is where the team is headquartered, and the word often appears written on the screen with the BAU team flying in their private jet off in the distance.

CSI: Cyber

Unlike the CSI team in Las Vegas, the cyber team is located in Quantico. These federal agents solve the countries biggest cyber crimes, led by none other than Patricia Arquette.
