One Content Creator Shares Her Non-Negotiable Breakfast Item To Start The Day Right
Hint: it’s got fruit on the bottom.

Wake up on the right side of the bed. Start off on the right foot. Hit the ground running. No matter your preferred idiom, one thing is clear: How you spend your morning has a major impact on the rest of your day.
Case in point: Hermela Solomon. As a beloved content creator, Solomon shares her hair and beauty routines, documents her travels around the world, and cooks approachable-yet-elevated food that we’re always adding to our inspo boards. If ever there was someone who makes the most of all her waking hours, it’s Solomon. On a hunch that her morning routine must be powerful, Bustle asked her about it.
It turns out the hunch was correct. Solomon has a three-step routine she never misses, giving her the energy and good vibes that buoy her through the rest of her jam-packed days. We couldn’t wait to hear the details.
Step One: Stretch And Nourish
Some hit snooze; others jump out of bed, going from zero to one hundred in seconds. Solomon falls in the middle. When she wakes up, she stays in bed and stretches, giving her body a bit of movement to get her going. Once she feels ready to go, she heads straight to the kitchen for one of her favorite parts of her morning: Too Good & Co. Fruit on the Bottom Cups.
Solomon keeps her fridge stocked with Too Good & Co. Cups because, she says, it “sets the tone for feeling good.” It’s full of protein and high-quality ingredients, and contains no artificial sweeteners, so it jump-starts her morning with great taste. Plus, these cups have at least 50% less sugar* than the average fruit on the bottom yogurt and 0 grams of added sugar†. “It’s packed with flavor while still being healthy,” Solomon raves.
Step Two: Curl And Lift
Once she’s had a wholesome breakfast, it’s time to attend to her signature curls. Solomon’s curls are, to say the least, epic — but it wasn’t always that way. “For so many years growing up, I tried to conform to something I wasn’t by constantly straightening my hair. I feared I stood out too much because it was too poofy or big,” she recalls. “But now, my mindset has completely shifted. My natural curly hair is what makes me unique.”
After plenty of trial and error — “It took years to figure out what techniques and products worked best for my hair texture,” she says — she has a system down pat. And she’s also added another surprise element to her routine: wrist weights.
Yep, you read that right. Solomon wears two-pound wrist weights on each arm while doing her hair. Her rationale? It’s the perfect way to get in a little workout and strengthen her joints without wasting time. Um, genius. Excuse me while I go ahead and steal that idea.
Step Three: Plant And Prep
Hair done and (wrist) weights lifted, it’s time for Solomon to check in on her plants. She sets the mood by playing her favorite vinyls and then spends time watering her plants and gently cleaning them off. She feels a personal connection to her plants. They even have names, which she says makes caring for them more meaningful (and fun!).
Once she’s communed with her plants and they're looking and feeling good, Solomon is ready to conquer everything else on her schedule. After all, she’s eaten a delicious cup of Too Good & Co. Fruit on the Bottom, done a light workout while getting her hair ready, and taken some time for an activity that brings her joy. “Whether I’m fueling my body with proper nutrition or cultivating a positive outlook each morning, starting on the right foot helps me feel more confident,” says Solomon. Talk about a great foundation for the hours ahead.
Before parting ways, Solomon shared one more secret: She keeps Too Good & Co. products close at hand throughout the day. Whether it’s their blended cups, mix-ins, or zero sugar† varieties, she relies on their high-quality protein as a satisfying, delicious snack that makes her feel good when she’s on the go. In other words, she’s aspirational about how she starts her days and how she moves through them.
Solomon showed that making the mornings count really matters — and the proper (and tasty!) breakfast is the key.
