Bianca’s style approach is adventurous, confident, colorful, and all about spreading body positivity. Combining Rhode Island’s nautical vibes with her love for urban modern style, Bianca ensures her personality shines through with a mix of bright hues and pattern mixing.
Providence is a waterside city right at the intersection between polished college town and creative art school scene. Add to that a world-renowned cooking school, and you've got a city teeming with innovative ideas from every coastal corner. Effortlessly picturesque, the classic New England cityscape plays a part in inspiring local style — but Providence's residents still have their own creative take on what the 'new nautical' looks like.
In partnership with Walmart, we're hitting the road to ask six cities how they style the new Time And Tru and Terra & Sky lines. We tapped Rhode Island style expert Bianca Lopéz for her outfitting expertise, working her love of color, pattern, and accessories into three local women's looks. Here's how Providence puts its New England touch on the collections.
Lopéz wears a Terra & Sky dress and Time And True shoes and accessories.
"Stripes are very Rhode Island in general because we love a nautical theme — not only during summer, but all year round," says Lopéz. Worn by themselves or paired with Lopéz's signature florals or polka dots, it's the classic pieces with a twist that catch her eye.
"I like to combine blue with red or yellow — that's why I have these beautiful dangly earrings," she says. It's a look she'd wear to a casual date or brunch with friends, she says, where her go-to order is always avocado toast.
But the best part of Rhode Island style, Lopéz says, is how free you are to wear anything. "I can be myself. I feel super confident, and I feel nobody cares about what I'm wearing, so no one will judge me," she says. "I can embrace my body, and I can embrace who I am without worrying about anything."
Anderson wears a Time And Tru top, jeans, shoes, and accessories.
"I'm just a denim girl," Anderson says. "Anybody who lives here knows that one day it's one temperature, and the next day it's the polar opposite. During spring here you kind of get a little bit of everything."
Jeans are an effortlessly cool pick for Anderson when it comes to Providence's yo-yoing weather, and a high-waist fit keeps comfort front and center. Subtle white stripe keeps the denim fresh, spring-centric, and versatile — easily styled for a breezy lunch on the water with friends or a day running errands. Add a curated collection of necklaces above the neckline, and her everyday style gets a little edge.
Lopéz says, "I wear this type of outfit all the time to do my groceries or go to the farmers market," where her favorite local find is fresh strawberries.
Fitzpatrick wears a Terra & Sky top, jeans, and Time And Tru shoes.
Fitzpatrick's look plays up Rhode Island's coastal vibe, Lopéz says, keeping things relaxed but put-together. "I like that it looks effortless, comfortable," she says, "but I think it looks like an elevated option for the boho chic."
As a self-professed "hippie at heart," Fitzpatrick's personal style combines the comfy with the on-trend — making an off-the-shoulder top and stretchy white jeans the ultimate match for a night out.
"I really do love that this is off-the-shoulder," she says. "I feel like it's such a big trend, and I'm so glad it's here because it adds a little sass to any kind of top." It's an unexpected twist on bohemian that keeps Fitzpatrick polished without being over-the-top, she says.
Dea wears a Time And Tru dress, shoes, and accessories.
For Dea, great spring style is all in the details, like the color palette you select. "I definitely like bright colors," she says. "I usually like to do a bright lip — I love turquoise, pink, yellow."
The bright blue wrap dress would be Dea's pick for a brunch date with friends, she says, or anywhere you'd want to add a touch of Old Hollywood glamour. "The blue in the wind was very free-flowing Marilyn Monroe-like," Dea says. Paired with a shimmery layer of necklaces and easy T-strap sandals, she easily navigates Providence's cobble stone streets.
Lopéz adds, "It’s a beautiful spring color. It looks very comfortable, too — I'm all for comfort."
