You may already be familiar with global fashion brand SHEIN, an online retailer popular with shoppers who want to wear the season’s biggest trends without breaking the bank. Or, like many amused social media followers, you may have been introduced to SHEIN more recently via a certain sorority rush series that went viral (hint: “Earrings are from SHEIN, dress is from SHEIN, shoes are from SHEIN…”). Either way, the digital style destination is making a name for itself — especially with the launch of its new SHEIN X 100K Challenge.

SHEIN X 100K Challenge

The four-episode series, which debuted Aug. 22 and wrapped Sept. 12 of this year, gave 30 emerging designers the chance to be mentored 1-on-1 by celeb judges — and take home the grand prize of $100,000. Khloé Kardashian, Law Roach, Christian Siriano, Jenna Lyons, and Laurel Pantin each lent their insider expertise to five designer finalists, who flew to LA for the show’s climactic finale.

Ultimately, it was Kardashian’s mentee, Sasha from Flaws of Couture, who emerged victorious. (Hint: You can relive all the fun from the SHEIN X 100K Challenge on SHEIN’s free app, as well as SHEIN’s official YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.)

SHEIN X Rock The Runway 2021

See the winning designer’s collection make its debut at the SHEIN X Rock The Runway 2021 event. Part fashion show, part choreographed concert (with performances by Saweetie, The Chainsmokers, Darren Criss, and more), you can stream the show on the brand’s free SHEIN app Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. PDT.

Throughout the show, SHEIN hopes to raise awareness for civil rights organization National Action Network, as well as the Youth Emerging Stronger organization, which is an LA-based nonprofit offering resources to homeless youth. SHEIN will also be donating $350,000 across both charities.

The SHEIN X Initiative

In addition to SHEIN’s philanthropic fashion show, the brand’s new SHEIN X initiative (launched January 2021) offers an incubator for new designers looking to find their footing. In an August press release, the brand said the program was “specifically developed to offset recurring infringement issues within the industry...SHEIN will work closely with the designers and take them from the inception phase to sampling, production, and distribution (via the SHEIN website).”

SHEIN now caters to shoppers in 220 countries around the world, and with more than 1,000 product drops daily, the brand aims to provide a versatile selection. In the same August press release, the brand says, “with the abundance of choice we provide, our customers can intricately craft that perfect look which reflects their individuality.”
