Selena Gomez Just Dyed Her Hair Platinum Blonde, & It's So Chic

Shortly after getting a cute new bit of body art, Selena Gomez now has blonde hair. But the star isn’t just a regular blonde — she’s gone platinum.

In an Instagram post on her Rare Beauty account, Gomez shared a selfie that revealed her much, much lighter ‘do. The blonde hue is a stark contrast to the singer-actor-beauty entrepreneur’s signature dark locks, though she did rock the hair color back in 2017 (along with a super-cute lob cut). In the photo, which was posted on Friday, April 23, Gomez still has a long length with natural ringlets along with subtle face-framing curtain bangs. She’s also got her darker roots exposed, a style beloved by fellow celebs Dua Lipa and Kim Kardashian, and a very on-trend, pastel-colored Skittles mani.

Alongside her selfie is the perfect caption for a beauty brand founder: “New look,” wrote Gomez. “Need to pick new Rare Beauty lip and blush shades now.” The transformation reveal has quickly garnered over 13 thousand comments (with more constantly rolling in) as fans and friends gush with excitement and heart-eye emojis. “Blondlena is baaaack!” one follower wrote.

Celebrity stylists Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri, co-owners of Nine Zero One salon in Los Angeles, were behind Gomez’s blonde dye job. "We’ve been doing Selena’s color for over a decade now,” they said in a release. “She typically keeps it pretty natural, but this time she went for a big change. This blonde is unique to her as we had to make sure there was an equal balance of cool and warm for her skin tone. It’s an edgier look and perfect for summer.”

The super-light shade is reminiscent of Billie Eilish’s recent blonde dye — the singer debuted a platinum chop, also with curtain bangs, back in March. Clearly things are looking bright this season.
