Margot Robbie’s Golden Globes Dress Is A Barbiecore Dream
She’s in her Barbie era.
Margot Robbie channeled her Barbie alter ego for the 2023 Golden Globe Awards, and honestly, I’m still in shock. The actor is nominated for an award for her work in her latest film Babylon, but still brought the Mattel maven’s essence to the red carpet.
Robbie wore head-to-toe custom Chanel in a subtle shade of Malibu Barbie pink and featuring a whimsical, mermaid-style tulle fringe skirt. Transparent sequins covered the semi-sheer, bubblegum-colored gown, and an early 2000s-era halter neckline. The design included diagonal sequin panels and a built-in belt. The look reportedly took more than 750 hours to complete and included 30,000 elements of embroidery, according to WSJ.
Letting the gown take the full spotlight, Robbie skipped accessories altogether, save for a single diamond ring that matched the crystal-encrusted star embellishment at the neck of her dress. Her trademark blonde tresses only added to the stunning image, while a hot fuchsia lip (Chanel, of course) and shimmering powder pink nails completed the Barbie-inspired look.
Robbie always knows how to serve a red carpet look, and this Chanel dress is clearly no different. The baby-pink hue is making me count down the days until Barbie hits screens (192, but who’s counting?).
