Kim Kardashian Wore Shapewear Covered In Pearls To The 2023 Met Gala

Naturally, Kim Kardashian attended the 2023 Met Gala wearing shapewear draped in thousands of pearls. Nothing could be more apt than the SKIMS founder’s take on this year’s ode-to-Karl Lagerfeld theme. It’s just so Kim.

Hitting the fashion industry’s biggest red carpet for the 10th time, the reality star-turned-mogul showed off silky beige shapewear topped with nothing more than strings of pearls. Kardashian donned a custom Schiaparelli haute couture design by Daniel Roseberry. The look featured a halter-style top and a slinky skirt made from more than 50,000 freshwater pearls and 16,000 crystal pearls.

“I wanted pearls. I thought, ‘What is more Karl?’ You know, the iconic Chanel pearls are what I always thought of. So, we wanted to just be dripping in pearls,” she told Vogue of the ultra-glamorous look. The concept was decidedly achieved, I’d say.

Theme aside — for longtime Keeping Up with the Kardashians fans, tonight’s appearance will likely provoke a bit of nostalgia. The pearl-covered ensemble calls to mind a similar look she modeled on the set of her first Playboy magazine shoot in 2007.
