Zit Popping Nail Art Is The New Stomach-Churning Beauty Trend No One Asked For

by Marlen Komar

If you're one of the many people who love to watch zits getting popped online, then you're going to flip over this questionable beauty tutorial. You can now bring the magic of bursting white heads to your manicures. A devilishly brilliant nail tech made an exploding zit nail tutorial, and it's as intriguing as it is stomach churning. Just in time for Halloween, the tutorial teaches you how to rock pus-ridden fingernails that will send everyone racing for their barf bags. Get ready, my friends. This one is incredibly gross.

While absolutely disgusting, you have to appreciate the inventiveness behind the creation. YouTube beauty vlogger Natasha Lee is the mastermind behind the tutorial and overall nail look. Seeing how she's done tutorials featuring fidget spinner nails before, she's not afraid to tap into what's trendy and go wild with it. But some might say this is taking things a little too far.

"It started with Dr. Pimple Popper Sandra Lee showing videos of spots being squeezed," Lee says in the video. "Then there were pimple cakes, so let’s go grossly full circle and do some DIY Halloween Exploding Pimple Nails!"

But she promises that as realistic as these nails look, it's still just another nail art tutorial using common products like polish and banana hand cream. No real pus was involved in the making of this tutorial. The world heaves a sigh of relief.

To achieve this all-too-realistic look, Lee first paints her nails a nude color to mimic her skin tone. The nail artist then creates the zits using a structure gel that's usually applied on top of painted nails to protect them from chips. She blobs on the gel to create the mounds, then waits for it to dry. But for the zits that could be, um, popped, the technique is a bit different.

Lee takes banana hand cream and places it in the center of her nail, positioning her pus-filled pimple. She then blobs on the structure gel on top to seal in the zit, creating the "skin." If you watch the video, Lee explains how to get the coloring just right and how to contain the cream from getting all over the place. It's actually truly fascinating to watch it come to life, if a little bit eerie.

And the pièce de résistance is, of course, when Lee pops the massive pimple on her ring finger. The banana hand cream pus starts oozing out like a stubborn pimple. Be warned: You will cringe.

It's slightly disturbing to hear her talk about the hand cream while watching the makeshift puss ooze out from the broken "skin." With lines like "You can actually smell the beautiful sweet banana as you're doing it," or "Who needs a handbag? You can carry your hand cream with you," you get a little nauseous. After all, this is a dead ringer for Dr. Pimple Popper's latest video.

While you might be internally screaming "noooo" right now, a lot of viewers actually loved it. If their reactions are any indication, you might just be seeing this look around the neighborhood.

"Is this disgusting or just genius? Okay. Just genius," one commenter wrote. Some even hopped in with pretty stellar puns, sharing, "These nails are SO POPPIN." They just couldn't help themselves, huh?

But hey, beauty is all about pushing the envelope — even if that means grossing out everyone within a one mile radius of you. Dr. Pimple Popper, if you need a mani, call up Lee. She'll hook you up with pimple nails that smell a lot better than the real thing.
