Luann's Divorce Comes At An Interesting Time In Terms Of The Show
After being married for less than eight months, former countess and Real Housewives of New York City star Luann D'Agostino confirmed that she and Tom are divorcing. Luann made the announcement on Twitter saying, "It's with great sadness that Tom & I agreed to divorce. We care for each other very much, hope you respect our privacy during this sad time!" The unexpected news has surely left fans of the show wondering if Luann's divorce will play out on RHONY? Although it will not be part of the current season, it stands to reason that they show will likely address Luann's divorce in some way.
As fans of RHONY or anyone who follows Bravo reality stars know Luann's marriage to Tom has been a prominent storyline during this season and the previous one. Heck, it was just a couple months ago that the episode showing her and Tom saying "I do" aired on June 24. The episode was aptly titled "A Countess No More" as Luann gave up her Countess title when she got re-married. Additionally, between Luann's wedding planning and gossip about Tom's history with a few of the other RHONY ladies, it seems like this season has been all about Luann and Tom, so it would be practically impossible for the show to not broach the topic of their divorce in upcoming episodes. Unfortunately, we'll probably have to wait until Season 10 to see how everything went down.
Next week the finale episode of Season 9 airs, which was taped months ago. The reunion was taped this past July, and it was around that time that Luann issued a statement to People addressing rumors of marriage trouble between herself and Tom. "Tom and I are in love, and marriage takes work," she said. "We are working on this together." Based on the timing, it seems unlikely that their divorce will get brought up during the reunion, however, the preview for the season finale did tease a tense moment involving Luann and Tom.
It's possible that their divorce will be mentioned in Luann's update bullet points that are usually featured at the end of the finale episode. Or, perhaps Luann did mention her divorce during the reunion but waiting to issue a statement until things were more concrete.
Either way, RHONY tends to start filming in late summer and early fall, for episodes that air the following spring. (Bustle reached out to Bravo in regards to whether the show is currently filming, but has not yet received a response.) Perhaps Luann's storyline in Season 10 will be all about her life post-divorce? We'll have to wait until whenever the next season of RHONY airs to find out.
