Do you smell that, Real Housewives fans? That’s the scent of a fresh, new cast member on Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills (and if we’re talking smells, I would imagine that Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave smells like jasmine and the sun). Daughter of iconic singer John Mellencamp, Teddi is joining the ladies in Beverly Hills to raise awareness for dogs with conjunctivitis or whatever it is that these people do in their spare time. They’ll travel, too, and drink wine. Actually, that doesn’t sound too bad… In any case, Teddi is new to the scene, so let’s get to know her. For starters, who is Teddi Mellencamp’s husband Edwin?
The departure of Eileen Davidson after Season 7 left some big shoes to fill. Eileen mostly stayed out of the drama, using her position as almost-Switzerland to tell people when they were wrong, and the women of Beverly Hills need that sort of moral compass so they stop screaming about underwear (I still have scars from Season 7). Teddi, to her credit, seems level-headed and pretty normal for a woman whose father is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She has two young children and a hot husband named Edwin Arroyave.
According to his LinkedIn page, Edwin is the CEO of Skyline Security Management, located in Downey, California. He’s been in the security game for over 20 years, with 13 of those years being with his own company. His bio on his LinkedIn describes the circumstances that he’s had to overcome in order to make it — born in Colombia, Edwin’s family moved to Los Angeles when he was a toddler. At a young age, “Edwin was forced to take financial responsibility for his family and become the ‘man of the house,'" the bio reads. So, he started working as a telemarketer at age 15, climbing the ranks. He then started his first security business and has been doing something similar ever since. Edwin was also named one of the “Top 20 Under 40” for Security System News in 2014.
Teddi herself is a fitness expert, and she blogs about her program at LA Workout Junkie. Teddi and Edwin have three young children, so I imagine their lives are very busy. But, you know, good busy! They’re super cute together, and their joint Instagram account (Teddi has her own, too) is a variety of snaps from their everyday family life, including their kiddos.
The women on Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills have all known each other for a long time, but Teddi told People she wasn’t fazed being the new kid. “I’m straightforward and I tell it like it is,” she said. “And I love learning about everybody from different cultures, different lifestyles, whatever it is. How could I turn it down?” Of the cast members, she says she “immediately clicked” with Dorit and Lisa Vanderpump, which isn’t surprising — they all seem to vibrate on the same personality wavelength. “They made it super fun and easy and comfortable for me,” Teddi said. “I’m not one to force a connection. But I have a lot of fun with Kyle, too. She makes me laugh!”
Let’s just hope that Teddi can stay above the inevitable fray, and that Edwin butts out, too. There’s nothing worse than when the husbands of Real Housewives cast members (in any franchise) try and join in on fights they had nothing to do with. (Looking at you PK, David, Michael, Mario, etc.… Bobby Zarin was the only pure soul.) But Edwin seems like a busy guy — he has a family and big-time job. He’ll support his wife in her new foray on being on television, and my guess is that he’ll let her do her thing.
