Hometown week is a big week on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Rachel has set her lineup of families to meet, and there could be drama on the horizon. Dean told Rachel that she wouldn’t be getting the traditional nuclear family experience if she went to his hometown, and from the looks of the previews for next week, he’s right. Who is Bachelorette star Dean’s dad?
According to OKHereIsTheSituation, Dean’s dad’s name is Harold "Chip" Unglert. Using that in a Google search, I found some information on his father, including a Facebook profile with what looks to be a picture of Harold and Dean together. It seems that Harold goes by the name Paramroop S. Khahsa now, and his LinkedIn reports that he's a yoga teacher at Earth Oracle Yoga Studio in Carbondale, Colorado. This is his bio on the yoga studio's website:
Paramroop has lived in the valley for over 16 years with his family of four and late wife Debra. Paramroop is a master craftsmen of tile and stonework and ran Davinci Stone Works in Carbondale for eight years. He helps organize morning Sadhana at the Studio. Currently a seva dar, he is in the process of becoming a teacher and offering his healing.
Aside from his yoga studies, the other information Google turned up was an article from the Aspen Times reporting on a fire at Harold Unglert's house in 2011. According to the paper, investigators suspected arson as the cause of the blaze. Another Aspen Times article from a year later reported that no suspects were ever charged in connection with the case. The first Aspen Times article reported that Harold Unglert said he was in a meditation class at the time of the fire and learned of it upon getting out. "My whereabouts that evening can be verified by 11 other people,” he said, according to the AT. The police said in the same article that he was not considered a suspect and they confirmed his alibi. Unglert could not immediately be reached for comment.
Dean seemed hesitant to talk about his father on the show, and Dean described him as “eccentric.” The preview for the hometown date episode showed Dean’s father yelling about Dean "living in the past," so I can only say that we’re likely in for a wild ride next week.
