Miss Colombia's Gown Is By A Colombian Designer

From the moment she stepped on the 2017 Miss Universe stage, Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar captured the audience's attention. From her gorgeous two-piece floral dress she wore during the opening ceremony to the sheer black number she wore on the red carpet, she seriously looked amazing. But my favorite look by far was her evening gown, which was a strapless, tiered gold creation. It was dramatic but not over the top, and it instantly caught the attention of the audience and fans watching the show at home.

The dress was so gorgeous that I had to know who designed it, and I turned to the internet to do a little sleuthing about the designer. I don't speak Spanish, so it was a little harder than I thought it would be to find the designer. But luckily I was finally successful — Tovar's dress was designed by Alfredo Barraza, a Colombian designer. Barraza doesn't have a website, but he does have a Facebook page that showcases some of his designs and news updates about his gowns. Although the dress was sparkly like the relatively typical pageant stereotype, it had an interesting structure and moved so well when Tovar walked across the stage.

It's gorgeous, right? It manages to look current despite the classic shape.

I love the sheerness of the bottom half of the dress. And even if she didn't come home with the crown, the dress was a winner.
