Riverdale is such a special show because all of its moving parts are equally entertaining and every character gets their time to shine. While the original Archie comics that the series is based on often felt like the Archie-Betty-Veronica show, Riverdale gives fans a chance to get to know the rest of the world a little better. Josie and her Pussycats are a big part of that world, and Episode 6 is Josie's spotlight episode, according to Ashleigh Murray, the actor behind the role. With the focus on the singer Thursday night, fans might be wondering where they can listen to Josie and the Pussycats' Riverdale songs. And, the good news is, they're totally streamable.
Right now, five Riverdale songs are on iTunes and Spotify and Murray tells Bustle they're streaming on Apple Music too. Fans can stream and buy the Pussycats' "Candy Girl" cover, "All Through The Night," and "Fear Nothing" as well as two songs featuring Archie actor A.J. Kapa: "Dance Dance Dance" and "The Song That Everyone Sings." And, I'm sure as the season progresses, more episode tunes will be added.
Murray says she's pleased that everyone is enjoying the fictional band's music, but that the singing thing is really just for her character. "I just happened to get lucky enough to carry a tune, but it was never anything that I wanted to pursue," she says. "People ask me, 'Oh, do you have any music out?' And I’m like, 'No, no I don’t.' I just happen to sing." At the end of the day, Murray says, "I want to be an actor and if they need me to sing, I will, but it’s a lucky gift."
But, just because Murray doesn't necessarily have her own singing dreams, that doesn't mean we won't hear more from Josie. "If we go to Season 2 and hopefully there will be more Josie and the Pussycats, there will definitely be more music," Murray teases. I, for one, can't wait.
