Starbucks Has A New Drink... But There's A Catch

Fans of the trendy drink fad, take note: Starbucks dropped a new drink earlier this month, and it’s everything your millennium pink-loving hearts wants in a beverage. If you liked the Unicorn Frappuccino, you’ll love Starbucks’ newest colorful concoction: the ultra-festive Shaken Watermelon Pink Drink. But, unfortunately, the location of this beverage is pretty tough to pin down. Here’s where to buy the Shaken Watermelon and Passion Tea at Starbucks.

Like many of its drinks, Starbucks’ new Shaken Watermelon and Passion Tea is as colorful as it is refreshing. Made with watermelon juice and the brand’s signature Passion Tea, the drink sports a bright pink hue that’s absolutely begging for its five minutes of fame in your Instagram feed. The pink drink features notes of hibiscus flowers, lemongrass, mango, papaya, and lime juice for a balance of of sweetness with just a hint of puckery tartness.

Curious to give it a taste? You’ll have to do so this summer, as the drink is only available from now until Aug. 31, 2017. Also, there's even more of a catch: you’ll also have to travel to Japan to get your hands on this new drink, because, for now, it's only available at Starbucks locations there.

This drink is one a few new summer Starbucks releases in 2017. Earlier this year, the coffee chain teamed up with Queen Monster Lady Gaga for the Cups of Kindness campaign, and earlier this month it released four new Frappuccino flavors to help fans welcome summer. And let’s not forget Starbucks' Ombré Pink Drink, either. Though comparable in color, the new pink drink has a flavor all its own. So, you know, if you are planning to be in Japan sometime this summer, it’s definitely worth a detour to say you’ve tried this elusive offering.
