Here's Where You Can Buy That Explosive Trump Tell-All Everyone's Talking About

Presidents usually don't welcome exposés of the inner workings of their White House. But there's plenty of pre-release material to suggest one book about the first year of President Trump's administration could be in a "bombshell" class all its own. And that media buzz means Michael Wolff's Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House will probably be in high demand with its release Friday. The good news for interested readers? You can buy Fire and Fury at a range of outlets.

The two major names in bookselling, Amazon and Barnes & Noble, are probably the safest bet for the motivated book buyer. As of Friday morning, Amazon has copies available in three formats — hardcover, audio CD, and Kindle. But if you want to read right away, opt for the Kindle version. The hardcover and CD options appear to have a two to three week estimated delay.

Barnes & Noble is also offering Fire and Fury, both in-store and online. Their hardcover is already sold-out online, but its Nook format should be made available Friday at 9 a.m. ET during the book's official launch time.

Readers in a hurry to dive into Wolff's book should probably opt for a digitized version. That's because the release date has been moved up by four days, due in part to the heated reactions it set off.

Kramerbooks & Afterwords, a bookstore in Washington, D.C., started selling Fire & Fury at midnight on Tuesday, and there appear to have been plenty of customers willing to brave the cold to secure a copy. According to Chris Geidner of BuzzFeed News, a clerk told him they'd sold out within 20 minutes.

If the quick sellout at Kramerbooks & Afterwords is any indication, in-store copies might be hard to come by with such high demand.

There's another reason most buyers could find it difficult to locate an in-print copy at a brick-and-mortar bookstore. That's because the release date was supposed to be Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Like everyone else, booksellers were taken by surprise when publisher Henry Holt announced the expedited release date on Thursday morning. That gave booksellers just 24 hours to adjust for the new timing.

It's unclear how prepared they will be. Some smaller and regional bookstores may have copies of Fire & Fury, but it is impossible to know at this point the likelihood that customers will be able to find Wolff's political exposé at local shops.

Given the book's salacious details and scandalous quotes, many attributed to high-profile and well-known names in Trump's White House, Fire and Fury could be in-demand for quite some time.

Certainly, Wolff's work has infuriated Trump himself. He tweeted on Jan. 4 that the book was "[f]ull of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don’t exist," then said readers should "look at this guy's [Wolff's] past." It's unclear what the president was referring to.

The White House also released a remarkable statement on Steve Bannon following printed excerpts from Fire & Fury quoting Trump's former chief strategist and campaign chairman. The statement opened: "Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind."

The damning continued throughout, and Trump made clear that discrediting Bannon was part of his response to Wolff's book. "Steve was rarely in a one-on-one meeting with me and only pretends to have had influence to fool a few people with no access and no clue, whom he helped write phony books," the statement reads toward the end.

Trump has also threatened legal action against publisher Henry Holt, Wolff, and Bannon himself.

With all the coverage, Fire and Fury is sure to be a top source of political conversation. Given the high demand and altered release date, readers who want to read the book immediately should definitely consider opting for a digital copy.
