Alexa Chung's Clothing Line Is Exactly What You'd Expect
One of the crucial components of being a true style icon is eventually getting your own clothing line. And while Alexa Chung has collaborated on various capsule collections many, many times, she has finally gotten her own eponymous Alexa Chung clothing line, and it is exactly what you'd expect.
On Tuesday, Chung debuted her 145-piece ALEXACHUNG collection at a Danish church in London, and almost instantly, the pieces were available at Selfridges, Matches and her own website, Alexachung.com. The collection included plenty of it-girl street style pieces with a little quirk, like overalls, ruffled dresses, peter pan collars and thick stripes — all things Chung has been known to wear herself — plus a few edgier designs, like a leather dress and a grungy graphic sweatshirt.
In an interview with Vogue, Chung described her collection as kind of a good girl gone (a little) bad, like, "if fresh-faced girls, good at netball, were infiltrated by an electronic band from Germany." Rather specific description, but appropriate nonetheless. I also feel like that's an accurate way to describe Chung's personal style.
Chung has collaborated on quite a few lines before creating her own, so she's definitely had a chance to thoroughly figure out her point of view, which is probably why this collection seems so cohesive and Alexa Chung-y. Here are a few of my favorite pieces.
This Leather Dress
Might be a little warm for the heat of summer, but this will definitely transition well into fall.
This Striped Suit
Very cool, however, I'm not convinced that anyone but Alexa Chung herself could pull this off.
This Graphic Sweatshirt
You can never go wrong with an edgy graphic sweatshirt. This one is extra cool.
This Sequin Maxi Dress
This would be great for a glamorous night out. If only I had an event nice enough to wear a sequin maxi dress.
This Ruffled Dress
Your grandma (and Alexa Chung) would approve.
