After filing for divorce from Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie has stayed relatively out of the spotlight. So, you may be wondering, where is Angelina Jolie during the 2017 Oscars? Well, to start, she has really no reason to be there and a lot of reasons not to. To start, Jolie didn't act in or produce anything in 2016, and as such she isn't nominated for any awards. So, aside from her being Hollywood royalty, there's no immediate reason for her to attend this specific Oscars. Secondly, there was a chance Brad Pitt may show up (like he did at the Golden Globes), and it's possible Jolie didn't want to deal with the media drama that would be both of them showing up to the same event right now.
As for what she's doing instead, that's hard to tell. Jolie isn't on social media, so her whereabouts are hard to track. According to an interview she did with Good Morning America, as of Feb. 21, Jolie was in Cambodia for her movie First They Killed My Father. It's possible she's still there or that she's since flown home. Either way, she seems dedicated to keeping the focus off her marital issues, and on her work and her family instead. In that GMA interview from last week, Jolie said, "We are focusing on the health of our family. So we will be stronger when we come out of this because that's what we're determined to do as a family."
Attending the Oscars could have brought a lot of unnecessary drama upon the exes and their children, so it makes sense that Jolie skipped the ceremony — likely in favor of hanging with her family and focusing on her work projects. Maybe she'll attend next year if First They Killed My Father is up for any awards.
