Allow me to take you back to the early 2000s, when Nicole Kidman and Lenny Kravitz were romantically linked. Yes, these two were not only dating, but they were rumored to also be engaged. After all this time, those rumors have finally been put to bed. Nicole Kidman and Lenny Kravitz were engaged, the Big Little Lies actor confirmed in a February interview with The EDIT.
While discussing her new HBO series, also starring Kravitz's daughter, Zoë Kravitz, Kidman said, "Well, I knew Zoë because I was engaged to her father. It’s all in the family! I love Lenny; he’s a great guy." There you have it. Kidman and Kravitz were most definitely engaged. It only took about 13 years for the truth to be set free.
Admittedly, I do not remember their romance whatsoever. If you're in the same boat, allow me to refresh your memory about their short-lived relationship that almost came to marriage. According to Us Weekly, after Kidman's divorce from Tom Cruise in 2001, the Oscar winner reportedly rented Kravitz's New York City apartment in the summer of 2003. Soon after, Kidman and the "Are You Gonna Go My Way" artist started dating.
In October 2003, Kidman's spokeswoman Leslee Dart spoke to People about Kravitz and said, "They’re very close. He’s very important to her. Beyond that, I don’t know." Other than that, there were no comments on the engagement reports. According to Us, it appears that their relationship ended by early 2004, so they weren't together that long. However, that didn't stop Kravitz from releasing the song, "Lady" in 2004, which was rumored to be about Kidman.
In 2006, Kidman married Keith Urban, but in 2007, she opened up about getting engaged after splitting with Cruise and before marrying Urban. By the way, she was also linked to billionaire Steve Bing during this time period as well. The Lion star never named names, but she told Vanity Fair (via E! News), "I get engaged, and I get married — that's my thing." As for why she never got married at that time, she said, "It just wasn't right. I wasn't ready. We weren't ready."
Clearly, there are no hard feelings between Kidman and Kravitz. In addition to praising him to The EDIT, she's ran into the singer a few times and they always seem to welcome one another with open arms. That sure seems to be apparent in both photos shared above.
They may have not worked out or dated for that long, but like many other celebrity couples, this former duo made quite the impact with their coupling. I mean, it's 2017 and Kidman's engagement confirmation is still considered big news.
