Here's When Frapp Happy Hour Starts At Starbucks

The glory and the madness of the Unicorn Frappuccino may be over for now, but the exciting Frapp-related news keeps on coming: Starbucks’ Frappuccino Happy Hour is coming back. Rejoice, blended-coffee-beverage lovers! When is Frapp Happy Hour, you ask? I’ve got the details on this sweet promotion — and some new Frapp offerings — right here.

Frappuccino Happy Hour is an annual Starbucks event in which, for a brief, glittering moment, Frappuccinos are available for half off. This year, the promotion will happen every day from 3 to 6 PM local time, starting on Friday, May 5, and lasting through Sunday, May 14 (which also happens to be Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day Frapp, anyone?).

To take advantage of Happy Hour, head into a participating Starbucks location between 3 and 6 PM; order any Frappuccino you want, in any flavor or size; and — bam! — it’ll be half-off. Not bad, right? Starbucks has actually extended its hours for Frapp Happy Hour this year, from two hours per day in 2016 to three, so there’s plenty of time to get in on the action.

“Frappuccino Happy Hour is going to be a huge home run this year,” Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson said of the event, according to Business Insider. “We're going to bring at least one entirely new drink into Happy Hour this year that is going to be as good as Unicorn or better.”

That new drink he’s referring to is the Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino. Where the Unicorn Frapp was a neon dream of pink and blue, sweet and sour, the Midnight Mint Mocha Frapp is dark, rich, and creamy. This moody Frapp has a base of coffee, milk, and ice blended with dark cocoa and mint sugar crystals. It’s layered with a thick tier of whipped ream in the middle, and topped with more whipped cream and dark cocoa. Honestly, it sounds like what you’d get if you put a package of Thin Mints in a blender and added a little milk. (Which, let’s be clear, sounds DELICIOUS.)

The Midnight Mint Mocha Frapp is available from May 2 (today!), and will be available throughout the summer. Depending on where you live, a tall (12 oz.) will cost somewhere between $4.45 and $4.75 (but remember, it’ll be half off if you buy it during Frapp Happy Hour!)

Also back on the menu today is the S’mores Frappuccino, which starts with marshmallow-y whipped cream at the bottom of the cup, topped with chocolate sauce, followed by milk, coffee, and ice. The whole thing gets a topping of more marshmallow whipped cream and a graham cracker crumble. So, basically, it’s camping in a cup, without the mosquitos and sleeping bags.

Between the Midnight Mint Mocha Frapp, the S’mores Frapp, and the already extensive Starbucks Frappuccino menu, you should have plenty to keep you entertained — and caffeinated! — during the Frappuccino Happy Hour extravaganza.
