Leave it the Real Housewives to start drama without an episode even airing. Recently, Camille Grammer posted a group photo without one notable Beverly Hill Housewife, leaving fans wondering whether Eileen Davidson was fired from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, or if she may have quit. (Bravo declined to comment. Bustle also reached out to Davidson's rep, but did not receive an immediate response.) The Emmy winner's time on the show has been brief but drama-filled, which makes her absence photo all the more confusing. The image, posted on Grammer's Twitter on Thursday evening, shows the ladies getting ready for a night out. The caption revealed they were in Las Vegas, but offered no insight as to why Davidson wasn't among them.
Update: On Friday, Eileen Davidson confirmed on Twitter and in a statement to Bustle that she is leaving Real Housewives of Beverly Hills "because of my crazy schedules at The Young and The Restless, as well as Days of Our Lives." Bravo had no comment on the situation.
Earlier: It's especially odd, because pretty much every other Beverly Hills Housewife was in attendance. From left to right, there are newcomer Dorit Kemsley, Adrienne Maloof, Kyle Richards, Lisa Vanderpump, Camille Grammer, Erika Girardi, and Lisa Rinna. So, the gang is practically all here — and then some. Not only is there a new face on the far left, but past favorites Maloof and Grammer seem to be making their return to the franchise, at least in some capacity. And for this many Housewives to be in the same place at once, you would assume that filming was taking place.
Unless Davidson was behind the camera taking the photo, as some fans have crossed their fingers for, she appears not to be involved with whatever this outing may be. And if it was being filmed for the show, that's even more curious.
Obviously a tweeted photo is far from an official statement, so nothing is confirmed. But Davidson's departure from the Housewives franchise would hardly be a surprise to fans who have watched her arc. Davidson joined the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast in 2014, and served mostly as a sidekick to friend and fellow Housewife Rinna throughout Season 5. But in Season 6, Davidson began to come into her own — instigating drama, whispering during reunions, and even standing up to Vanderpump.
It's the kind of drama the franchise encourages, but that wasn't the extent of her experience on the show. Soon after Davidson began to come off the sidelines and engage with the arguments, she found herself at the center of some drama of her own. In the course of her sparring with other Housewives, her personal life was thrust into the spotlight, too.
Without any confirmation, it's still possible that Davidson was let go. But the level of scrutiny she faced from her co-stars (including being accused of cheating on her previous husband, which she denied) might have been enough to make her step away of her own accord.
As devastating as it would be to lose Davidson for Season 8, hopefully this will serve as a word of warning to anyone interested in joining the franchise. It's all fun and games until your real life is up for discussion — so be careful just how much you open up to your castmates.
