If you're visiting Universal Studios Orlando this summer, be on the lookout for these collectible Cauldron Cakes at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. They're a must-buy for tourists, because you get to take a little piece of the magic home with you.
Potterheads know that Harry and crew enjoyed myriad sweet treats in the wizarding world, including Pumpkin Pasties, Chocolate Frogs, Fizzing Whizbees, and Bertie Bott's Every-Flavour Beans — all of which are available at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. But the park's Cauldron Cakes were in desperate need of a makeover.
In their first incarnation, the cupcakes were chocolate mousse-filled chocolate cake, and featured chocolate "feet" and a handle. Unfortunately, these cakes often came out looking nonuniform, or even sloppy, and Universal Studios Orlando knew it was time for a change.
Now, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter's Cauldron Cakes come baked in a reusable, black cauldron. They're still made of that delectable chocolate cake, but now come topped with buttercream frosting that has been dyed to look like flames.
Park tourists can purchase Cauldron Cakes at two locations: the relatively new Sugarplum's Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley, and Honeydukes in Hogsmeade. Each cake costs $9.95 and arrives in a ~fancy~ orange cake-box.
