On Monday, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air fans were beyond excited when Alfonso Ribeiro posted an Instagram of a reunion that finally happened with himself (Carlton), Will Smith (Will), Tatyana Ali (Ashley), Karyn Parsons (Hilary), Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey), and Daphne Reid (Aunt Vivian). Well, there is one former cast member who doesn't feel the same way. Janet Hubert, the original Aunt Vivian, isn't a fan of the Fresh Prince reunion, as she made clear on Facebook Tuesday.
Alongside a video of herself from her Fresh Prince days as Aunt Viv, Hubert shared quite the lengthy response to the reunion photo. Her post reads in its entirety:
I know the media hoe Alphonso Ribero [sic] has posted his so called reunion photo. Folks keep telling me about it. He was always the a** wipe for Will. There will never be a true reunion of the Fresh Prince. I have no interest in seeing any of these people on that kind of level.I am not offended in the least, by this photo... it was an event for Karen's charity. It does however prompt me to take some meetings in Hollywood to pitch my memoir PERFECTION IS NOT A SITCOM MOM, and tell of the behind the scenes story before I leave this earth.
As you can see above, this is the reunion photo making headlines left and right — and now even more so thanks to Hubert's reaction. "Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family," Ribeiro captioned it. "Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete."
This isn't the first time Hubert has reacted strongly the Fresh Prince cast, especially when it comes to lead actor Smith. In January 2016, she had a lot to say about Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, boycotting the Oscars due to the lack of diversity. Hubert posted a video of herself, which has since been deleted, on Facebook, in which she said,
"I find it ironic that somebody who has made their living and has made millions and millions of dollars from the very people that you’re talking about boycotting just because you didn’t get a nomination, just because you didn’t win? That’s not the way life works, baby."
I think it's safe to say that when Hubert doesn't like something, she's going to let the world know it.
