If you're into astrology, you've probably looked up what signs you're most compatible with. But you might not have thought about which zodiac signs to avoid when dating. It could be worth looking into, though. Dating's hard enough already, and you don't want to make it more difficult by pursuing incompatible people.
We often blame ourselves when someone doesn't text us back or agree to a second date, but more often than not, it just comes down to compatibility. And one source of your compatibility or lack thereof is your astrological sign, Deborah Graham, astrologer, star of TLC's Psychic Matchmaker, and author of Get Your Head Out of Your App: A Psychic's Guide to Attracting and Keeping True Love, tells Bustle. Your sign can determine how you handle conflict, what you look for out of a relationship, what activities you enjoy, and a lot of other things that shape what kind of partner you are.
Whenever we talk about dating and astrology, we have to use the caveat that every combination can work and every combination can fail. Some just have higher chances of working or failing than others. Here are the ones with the highest chances of failing, according to Graham.
Aries (March 21 – April 19): Taurus
Taurus, who likes to think every decision through, will drive strong-willed, self-assured, decisive Aries crazy. Aries moves at lightning speed in love and everything else, and Taurus can slow them down.
Taurus (April 20 – May 21): Aquarius
Aquarius can be conservative when it comes to romance, valuing stability, commitment, and emotional connection. Taurus, on the other hand, is progressive and adventurous and needs to keep things exciting in the bedroom. They'll bore quickly in a relationship with an Aquarius.
Gemini (May 21 - June 20): Cancer
Gemini and Cancer are both emotionally driven, but Cancer is to an even greater extent, which can infuriate Gemini. Both signs will become even more emotionally unstable as they struggle to understand each other.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Scorpio
Cancers are extremely sensitive, and Scorpios can be a bit ruthless in relationships. "The 'love you, hate you' and possessive temperament of Scorpio is too much for Cancer," says Graham. Cancers need someone who's more even-keeled and tactful in how they express themselves.
Leo (July 22 – August 22): Capricorn
This is a situation where birds of a feather don't flock together. Leos and Capricorns both love to be the center of attention, so they'll always be competing for the spotlight.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Pisces
Virgos are hyper-logical, and Pisces' impractical dreams are their pet peeve. "Virgo wants to do rather than dream about doing," says Graham. Virgos' control-freak tendencies could also scare off Pisces.
Libra (September 23 – October 22): Gemini
Geminis like to play the field, while Libras seek commitment, so this combination is prone to ending in heartbreak. If a Libra plans to date a Gemini, they should be careful to avoid a situation where they're catching feelings more quickly than their partner.
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21): Leo
Scorpios and Leos both like to be in control, so a relationship between them is a power struggle. These relationships are also often plagued with jealousy on both ends.
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Taurus
Structured, risk-averse Taurus can hold free-spirited, adventurous Sagittarius back. Even if Sagittarius can compromise by leading a more traditional, stable life, they may eventually feel like they're losing themselves.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19): Aries
This relationship may seem meant to be in the beginning, since both signs are super romantic and fall in love quickly. But since they have such different ways of thinking, the relationship will be fraught with misunderstandings and arguments.
Aquarius (January 29 – February 18): Libra
Aquarius needs lots of space and may feel smothered by Libra. They also be feel limited by Libra's conventional thinking. Resentment can build as both partners strive to compromise on these fronts.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20): Cancer
With both signs extremely sensitive and constantly molding to their environments, partners in this relationship can quickly forget who they are. Each will try to adapt to their partner, but the problem is, their partner doesn't have a strong identity either.
If you're in one of these relationships, this doesn't mean it's doomed to fail, but it could give you a sense of what problems you're up against.
