What The New 'Black Panther' Photos Really Tell Us
February 2018 can’t seem to come fast enough, and the new Black Panther photos from Entertainment Weekly will make you even more antsy for the film's release than you were before. On Wednesday morning, EW released a special first look at their Comic-Con issue, and the cherry on top of it all was a very exclusive first look at 20 images from the new film starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, and Martin Freeman. Unsurprisingly, these Black Panther photos reveal a lot about what to expect... mainly when it comes to the way the characters interact with and relate to each other.
The film is led by Boseman, who’s in the hot seat as the film’s title character and must defend his title from those hoping to dethrone him. With these exclusive photos, we have so much more to look at instead of watching that action-packed trailer over and over again. Just scanning through the images, we get a way closer look at the film’s storyline and the major roles each character plays. From Lupita Nyong’o’s role in the Black Panther’s own Secret Service to Michael B. Jordan’s role as a supervillain, let’s take a deeper look at some of the film’s more notable characters... and maybe discover a few hints about the action along the way.
1Black Panther
This Twitter user said it best; Black Panther's costume in the upcoming film consists of some pretty stunning details.
2Erik Killmonger
Every superhero film needs a good villain, and this one looks like he’s out for blood. The lovable Michael B. Jordan stars in Black Panther as Erik Killmonger, a powerful warrior who will stop at nothing to dethrone the newly crowned king, T'Challa.
3T’Challa And Killmonger Fight It Out
This powerful still depicts T’Challa and Killmonger’s clash at Warrior Falls. Both characters go head to head in a shirtless battle (definitely looking forward to finding out the story behind Killmonger’s bumpy battle scars) as T’Challa’s Dora Milaje looks on. By the looks of this photo, it’ll definitely be a powerful scene.
4The Dora Milaje
Speaking of the Dora Milaje, here’s a closer look at the badass group of women — Okoye (Danai Gurira, left), Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o, middle), and Ayo (Florence Kasumba, right) — tasked with keeping T’Challa safe.
5And Once More
You see that death stare? Bow down in the presence of greatness.
6On An Adventure
Angela Bassett takes on the role of Ramonda, T’Challa’s mother. She’s pictured here (silver dreadlocks and all) accompanying Nakia and T’Challa’s sister Shuri on a top secret mission lead by Everett Ross (Martin Freeman). Though Everett is described as one of the only outsiders allowed inside of the discrete country of Wakanda, Nakia’s stare seems to show that she’s still a little skeptical about teaming up with him for any reason.
7Ready For Battle
The Dora Milaje once again look like they mean serious business.
8Bad Blood
Do you think these two stare each other down every time they come in contact with one another? Probably.
We've all been itching to gain so much more information about Black Panther, and these photos did not disappoint. You can see all of these and more over at Entertainment Weekly.
