Maybe you thought you were prepared, but the newest promo for Rachel Lindsay's upcoming season of The Bachelorette is here, and you truly are not. The Dallas attorney's season begins on May 22, but you don't have to wait for the premiere to know that she means business. This is no blushing, shy Bachelorette gushing about how lucky she feels to be a part of the franchise. This is a badass, independent woman looking for someone who lives up to her standards.
Wearing a scarlet, skin-baring dress, Rachel stomps onto the scene to Fifth Harmony's "That's My Girl," staring down the camera as her skirts swirl and petals fall around her. The message is clear: this is about Rachel and Rachel alone, so you better show up ready to play with your best foot forward. And, even then, it's clear that Rachel doesn't mind breaking some hearts on the way there.
In the last few seconds of the promo, after she's strutted her way through paths of roses and served about as much face as I can consume in a single sitting, she drops the rose to the ground, where it shatters. But, far from content to just leave it at that, she then gives us the eye again, before stepping directly on the rose, grinding it into the ground.
After that, Rachel is all smiles, throwing up her hands in celebration to show that she is capable of having some fun — as long as she's being taken seriously by these suitors. The one thing that this promo makes clear above all else is that Rachel Lindsay is not messing around. This is going to be an epic season of The Bachelorette, so buckle up and try to keep up with the boss. She's not slowing down for you.
