The 'Love' Season 2 Soundtrack Is So Good
I think we can all agree that love can be complicated, awkward, and extremely confusing. Netflix's sleeper hit TV show Love, created by Judd Apatow, illustrates the insanity that comes with falling for someone unexpectedly brilliantly. The original series will be releasing a highly anticipated second season on the streaming site March 10, and although you can't marathon it all quite yet, the Love Season 2 soundtrack songs should surely get you in the mood to dive right back into Mickey and Gus's complicated relationship.
One of the many things that this series does right is the music that is chosen for the backdrop of the various stories playing out over the season. The show takes place in Los Angeles and the music has a decidedly California, hipster vibe that meshes so well with the characters. One listen to these songs will have you thinking that you are strolling by palm trees on your way to some uber-hip bar in L.A.. Although there is no official soundtrack released for Season 2 yet, Netflix released an official soundtrack for the first season on iTunes in mid February of last year when the series premiered, so keep your eyes peeled for the likely release of another soundtrack soon. In the meantime, check out all the songs that end each of the upcoming 12 episodes, minus one from Episode 3 (because it's a tune that Gus and his buddies make up during a jam session.)
Episode 1: Fleetwood Mac's "What Makes You Think You're The One"
Fleetwood Mac can do no wrong and this song fits so perfectly with this series. The lyrics ring pretty true for Mickey and Gus.
Episode 2: The Avett Brothers' "No Hard Feelings"
Just a damn pretty song. Also, kind of a bummer, but in a good way.
Episode 4: Clem Snide's "Beautiful"
It's an indie version of Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful". That is everything you need.
Episode 5: Loudon Wainwright III's "Donations"
This is such a feel-good song. It will make you want to take a stroll somewhere and just tune out.
Episode 6: Hans Zimmer's "Rise"
This was also in The Dark Knight Rises and it is far too epic to make sense in this series, which makes me wonder what the hell is happening in Episode 6 for this to be the ending credits.
Episode 7: George Michael's "Freedom! '90"
This. Song. Is. Everything.
Episode 8: The Velvet Underground's "I'll Be Your Mirror"
Another perfectly indie jam that fits perfectly into the environment Love creates.
Episode 9: The Eels' "Love Of The Loveless"
I personally love the Eels and I am psyched to see them getting a spot in this soundtrack.
Episode 10: Fiona Apple's "Werewolf"
Fiona Apple will forever be amazing. It is necessary to have her on this list. This song is classic, moody Fiona and I love it.
Episode 11: The Bird And The Bee's "Again & Again"
This is the song you play to dance around your house like a lunatic. Do it.
Episode 12: Beck's "True Love Will Find You In The End"
You have to love Beck, and this mellow jam is perfect. It is also interesting to note that this is the credits for the final episode of Season 2. Hmmm, what could this mean for Mickey and Gus?
Hopefully this list will get you ready for Season 2 of Love, streaming on Netflix March 10.
