You Missed A Major ‘KUWTK’ Reference On ‘Life of Kylie’

Whenever the Kardashian-Jenner clan rolls out a new reality show, there's some overlap to be expected within their TV empire. They're a tight-knit family, so seeing them pop throughout multiple spinoffs (Khloé & Lamar, I Am Cait, the list goes on) isn't surprising. Kylie Jenner's Life of Kylie follows suit, albeit in a less conventional way: Her family members have yet to make an appearance, but there is a Life of Kylie scene that ties back to KUWTK.

In the second episode of the new series, which premiered Aug. 6, Kylie convinces her BFF, Jordyn Woods, to go on a blind date with a friend of a friend. The two then decide that since Kylie can't be physically by her side for the date, she'll listen in with a walkie-talkie and mic so she can hear their conversation and help ease her through it. (To be fair, it seems like Jordyn can handle herself solo, and mostly laughs off what Kylie is saying).

It's a wacky, boundary-crossing plan only a Kardashian-Jenner could concoct, but it's also not the first time it's happened. During a Season 2 episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians that aired all the way back in 2008, Kourtney and Kim sign a reluctant Khloé up for online dating when they decide it's time for her to meet someone. They interview the guys themselves and set up them up on coffee dates with Khloé in the nearby hills of their Calabasas home. Khloé, of course, isn't thrilled to hear her sisters have taken it upon themselves to be her matchmaker, but against her better judgment, she agrees to entertain the idea and go.

Just like Kylie, Kourtney and Kim camp out in the parking lot with binoculars and a walkie-talkie, following along and throwing in their two cents as she rotates through speed dates with random men. Predictably, Khloé doesn't find a love connection, but to get her sisters off her case, she tells them she's going out with one of the guys she met and instead hangs out with her best friends, Malika and Khadijah Haqq.

Life Of Kylie ends similarly: Kylie says she's bored and drives over to pick Jordyn up. But this time, at least, there's promise: Jordyn exchanges phone numbers with the guy before saying goodbye.
