A 'Devil Wears Prada' Sequel Is Coming & It Follows Your Favorite Side Character

by K.W. Colyard

Good news, Lauren Weisberger fans! The Devil Wears Prada sequel is coming next year, and it follows everyone's favorite side-character: Emily Charlton. Not only that, but the third Devil Wears Prada book also has the perfect title. When Life Gives You Lululemons runway-struts into a bookstore near you on June 5, but you can read an excerpt over at Entertainment Weekly in the meantime.

First published in 2003, The Devil Wears Prada centers on Andy Sachs, a recent graduate eager to dive into the publishing world. Andy winds up as a bottom-rung assistant to Miranda Priestly, the demanding and cool editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. Just a step higher on the Runway ladder is Emily, Miranda's first assistant, who has been promoted only recently from the position Andy takes. The Devil Wears Prada follows Andy through her short — and yet, agonizingly long — tenure under Miranda, until she finally leaves to pursue a career outside of the fashion magazine.

In 2013 a second novel, Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, saw Andy taking her own turn as editor, this time for The Plunge, a bridal magazine she founds with Emily. The two are excited to learn that Elias-Clark, the same company responsible for Runway, wants to acquire The Plunge, but are less prepared to learn that Miranda is now heading up the media giant.

The second Devil Wears Prada book might have received a less-than-enthusiastic reception from readers, but When Life Gives You Lululemons is all set to be a fun read for Weisberger's fans. The new Devil Wears Prada sequel catches up with Emily, who is now working as an image consultant for an A-list celebrity living in "the suburbs of Greenwich, Connecticut," according to EW.

When Life Gives You Lululemons opens on Emily receiving a frantic call from an old contact. Helene, an old NYC acquaintance, represents the hottest teen heartthrob, Rizzo, but finds herself thrown into crisis when the new Bieber shows up to a party in a full-on Nazi costume. Emily says yes to the job in a heartbeat and hops on the first flight out of LAX, ready to be back in New York City.

You can read the first excerpt of When Life Gives You Lululemons on Entertainment Weekly. It's only one chapter, but it's sure to get you ready for Lauren Weisberger's next book. We'll have to wait to read the rest of Emily's new adventures when the Devil Wears Prada sequel hits stores on June 5, 2018.
