Last year, Leonardo DiCaprio finally won an Oscar, so it's going to be tough for the 2017 Oscars nominations list to top that in terms of excitement. Still, there's a lot to look forward to at this year's ceremony (taking place Feb. 26). Will La La Land continue its Golden Globes success and run away with the most Oscars of the night? Will Natalie Portman win her second statue, this time for her impeccable role in Jackie? Will your favorite film get snubbed entirely? Ah, how fun awards season is, especially since America doesn't get to vote on these winners. (We don't have the best track record of that lately.)
This year, the nominees spanned genres, styles, and topics. From the instant classic La La Land to intense films like Passengers and uplifting animations like Moana, there's a lot to love about these Oscar nominees. And, even if your fave actors didn't make the cut this time, there's always next year. For now, let's celebrate those who do stand a chance of winning... even if Leonardo DiCaprio isn't one of them this year.
