Taraji P. Henson's Grammys Dress Is Prince-Esque
The 2017 Grammys were full of meaningful moments that paid respect to late legends, from Adele's gorgeous George Michael tribute song to Blue Ivy's Prince-esque suit. In fact, Beyoncé and Jay-Z's daughter wasn't the only attendee who seemingly took outfit inspo from the pop music icon — actor Taraji P. Henson's 2017 Grammys dress had Prince vibes as well.
Henson, who has recently starred in the television show Empire and the critically acclaimed film Hidden Figures, took the stage to present at the ceremony wearing a gorgeous purple satin dress with strong ruffled shoulders and three-quarter length sleeves. Her whimsical frock, which was also embellished with moons, stars, lightening bolts, and planets, is by the designer Marc Jacobs. The royal purple shade of the dress as well as the strong shoulder silhouette is subtly reminiscent of Prince's famous Purple Rain costume.
It's unclear whether Henson intended to pay tribute to the legendary singer, who died April of last year, but it seems possible. Prince was on everyone's minds during Grammys night, in part due to the fact that a performance by Bruno Mars was scheduled to honor him. Either way, this dress was a stellar choice for Henson, who looked radiant on stage and on the red carpet.
Those embellished details are so special.
She walked the red carpet earlier in the evening.
If Henson's outfit is a nod to Prince, it's less overt than the absolutely adorable Gucci suit that Blue Ivy wore to the event.
Gorgeous!
