Have you heard the rumors that Drake Bell and Josh Peck are feuding? The news has definitely been a hard pill to swallow for fans of their popular self-titled Nickelodeon series. However, as more details emerge, it's become increasingly apparent that fans could've seen signs of the rumored feud brewing months ago.
In the nearly 10 years since their show Drake & Josh ended, the duo appeared to maintain their seemingly tight relationship, posting nostalgic memes and photos of themselves all over social media. On the surface it seemed that nothing had changed, given the nature of their bro-mantic posts on Instagram and Twitter. Sadly, it turns out that those public displays of affection may have been a farce. With the chatter spreading like wildfire, many fans are scratching their heads, questioning exactly how these one-time best bros turned into foes over the years. (Bustle reached out to reps for the actors, but did not receive an immediate response.)
News of the squabble arose after photos of Peck's wedding started to surface with no sign of Bell in sight, causing the latter to seemingly lash out at his former costar on Twitter. The fact that Bell was not invited to Peck's wedding may have blindsided fans, but if you dig a little deeper, it seems like there were several clues over the past year — if not, longer.
1. Bell Once Said No To Another Movie With Peck
In early 2014, Peck discussed rumors that Bell filed for bankruptcy in an interview with TMZ. Although Peck maintained that he and Bell were still pals, the Ice Age voice actor said he would not do another Drake & Josh film to help his buddy out of debt.
2. Bell's Twitter Fingers Got Him Into Trouble
In 2015, Bell posted a highly insensitive message directed at Caitlyn Jenner. “Sorry….still calling you Bruce,” he tweeted and quickly deleted after receiving major backlash. Although Bell would later apologize, Peck's seemingly happy-go-lucky personality most likely doesn't align with Bell's Twitter persona.
3. It Took Nearly A Decade For A TV Reunion
Things seemed peachy-keen when these two reunited for an episode of Peck's short-lived television series, Grandfathered. But why did the reunion take so long in the first place? Despite maintaining that they were still good friends, these two haven't really been spotted together much over the years.
4. Bell Didn't Acknowledge Peck's Engagement
Fans were excited to learn that Peck and his girlfriend, Paige O'Brien, got engaged back in June 2016. However, it seems that Bell wasn't quite feeling the love, because he reportedly never reached out to congratulate his longtime pal, according to a source for Us Weekly. Although this wasn't revealed until news of the feud hit the media, it could quite possibly prove to be the beginning of the end of Peck and Bell's longtime bromance.
5. Peck Didn't Invite Bell To His Wedding
Unbeknownst to fans, Bell apparently did not receive an invitation to Peck's June 2017 wedding. It appears that Bell may not have been aware of the actual wedding date until photos hit social media.
6. Peck's Wedding Guest List Included Other Former Coworkers
Things would ultimately hit the fan when Bell reportedly learned that Peck’s Grandfathered costar John Stamos and Vine star, Jason Nash, who appeared as an extra on Drake & Josh, were both in attendance, according to Us Weekly. It was also reported that Bell was upset to hear that Dan Schneider was a guest.
And just like that, Bell seemed to immediately "cut ties" with Peck via social media, as he would tweet (and later delete) his feelings about not being invited.
This is certainly the heart-breaking end of an era.
For comfort, you may need to find someone to hug you, brotha.
