Does This Mean Emison Is Endgame On 'PLL'?

Now that Season 7B of Pretty Little Liars has officially started, fans are eager to find out how exactly the show will end. As well as desperately wanting to know who A.D. is, once and for all, viewers are also on tenterhooks when it comes to discovering which of their beloved 'ships will end up together. One of the best PLL couples is Emily and Alison, otherwise known as Emison, whose supposed love affair has been far from simple. However, in Season 7A, it looked as though the pair might actually be able to make a romance work. But will Emison end up together on Pretty Little Liars?

Bustle spoke to Sasha Pieterse, who plays Alison DiLaurentis, on the Freeform Upfronts red carpet in New York City on Wednesday. When asked how fans will react to Emily and Alison's ending, Pieterse seemed optimistic. "They’re gonna be happy. They’re going to be satisfied. I really do think so," she said. "I really like where the storyline went, and I think I don’t want to say it's what the fans wanted, but I think it’s up there."

Despite her response being somewhat positive in tone, Pieterse's statement about Emison is far from conclusive. In fact, based on her answer, it almost sounds as if Emison doesn't end up together. But don't start crying just yet.

By the end of 7A, Emily and Alison had taken part in several make out sessions, and fans were pretty convinced that Emily would offer to help raise Alison's baby with her. Viewers also began to formulate theories regarding Alison's baby, with some choosing to believe that Alison might be carrying Emily's baby, especially since Shay Mitchell's character had her eggs stolen during the first half of Season 7. Slightly twisted, but definitely not impossible in Rosewood.

While Pieterse's comments don't rule out a happy ending for the couple, the actor still manages to keep the plot of Pretty Little Liars firmly under wraps. Her comment, "I don’t want to say it's what the fans wanted," has me a little concerned, as this could mean that Emily and Alison don't end up together romantically. Of course, it could simply mean that the pair doesn't get married, but that doesn't preclude them being together.

Like many other Emison 'shippers, I'm choosing to believe that Emily and Alison make their relationship work, because the alternative is simply too miserable to bear.
