Raven's Breakup Broke 'Bachelor' Nation's Heart
Nick Viall made a difficult choice on Monday night's finale episode of The Bachelor. His journey to love came to an emotional crossroads, forcing him to pick between Raven and Vanessa. After a lot of tears and emotions, Nick finally made his decision to be with Vanessa. The two are now officially engaged and excited to see where their relationship will take them. Although it seems like the two left the show in a good place, and that he and Raven even ended things on an OK note, fan response on Twitter shows that Raven's breakup got a lot more attention than Vanessa's proposal. Nick may have gone with his heart on Monday, but fans' hearts seem to be with the runner-up.
According to Twitter's Internal Data, there were 313,000 tweets about last night's finale episode. But, in a surprising twist, the big proposal wasn't the most tweeted moment of the night. Instead, that title goes to when Nick said goodbye to Raven. The chart below from Twitter measures the tweets per minute during the finale, showing that tweets spiked during the moment Nick dumped Raven and then dropped a little lower when he proposed to Vanessa later in the finale.
But, rather than just tweeting a sendoff message to Raven, many fans used their 140 characters in that moment to express that they believe Nick made the wrong choice.
Viewers also shared their support for Raven and praised her empowering final remarks to Nick.
Nick wasn't the only Bachelor having a good night. His pal and Bachelor alum Sean Lowe was, too. Three of Lowe's tweets made Twitter's list of most retweeted tweets during the episode. These messages took comical digs at Nick's dating history on the show and even predicted who would get the final rose.
Fortunately for all you #TeamRaven fans, ABC's After The Final Rose special assured fans that Raven's road to love isn't over yet. Chris Harrison announced that she's officially headed to Bachelor in Paradise! Hopefully, Raven finds the love she deserves in Paradise. We're all rooting for you, girl.
