It seems tabloids are always on "baby bump watch," to break the next big A-list pregnancy story. So, when Julie Chen claimed on The Talk that George Clooney and Amal Clooney were reportedly expecting twins, people likely began looking at recent photos of Amal to see if she was showing. TMZ reported that "rumors started swirling Amal was pregnant when she showed up to a Netflix screening in London last month rockin' a baby bump ... and earlier this month looking bigger in Barcelona." But, photos of Amal Clooney's "baby bump" aren't proof of anything, so people should definitely stop scrutinizing her body. The Clooneys haven't commented on the reports of their pregnancy, and reps for George have not yet responded to Bustle's request for comment. (Amal could not be reached for comment.)
Without any confirmation from the couple themselves, it's not our place to speculate pregnancy, how far along she allegedly is, or how many children she allegedly is having. The Clooneys may be in the public eye, but they have a right to their private life. If and when they want to share big life news with us, that's fine. But we can't rush that — or speculate on things. Of course, that hasn't stopped the Internet from coming out in full force to comment on Amal's figure of late.
We should stop speculating about what a celebrity's body looks like without their own comment on the matter. So, until/unless she says something herself, let's retire the "baby bump" watch.
