First off, nobody panic! Kat Von D Beauty is revamping its Studded Kiss lipstick collection. You know, the rich and bold lippies with the studded tube that are as cool to carry as they are rad on you lips? These rock 'n' roll lippies are pretty on both the inside and outside.
The brand first confirmed via Instagram that "the Studded Kiss Army" is getting a makeover. The caption only revealed that the "kick-ass component," which is the packaging, will remain "as is." That got fans curious about what exactly "makeover" meant? Fans were speculating if it meant shade swaps would be in the future, with new ones being introduced and others being retired or resurrected. Some speculated that it would simply be a formula upgrade.
There were so many questions and so few answers. Then, the brand confirmed in a comment on the post that the lippies are being upgraded and coming back with a "new and improved formula."
But there is additional good news. As per the Insta post, the current, 39-shade Studded Kiss collection is 40 percent off on the KVD Beauty site. That's almost half off and is major savings at $12 per premium tube.
If you have favorite hues you always wanted to try, but have yet to swipe on your pout, it's time to start shopping.

The usual Studded Kiss cases are black, glossy, chic, and sleek. The brand did do a special edition collection where the packaging matched the bullet inside.
There were pink, blue, purple, and gray lippies and caps.
Kat Von D-evotees immediately began responding to the post about the changes to Studded Kiss. They were excited about the sale and enjoying a deep and desirable discount. It seems the sale will go on until the shades sell out, so the brand can move old inventory in favor of the new versions.
MAC recently did this by rotating old stock out of its boutiques into Nordstrom Rack outposts so that it could make retail room for new collections.
The diehards are ready, willing, and waiting for the next generation of Studded Kiss.
Other KVD loyalists had further legit questions about the changes. Yes, change is scary in any aspect of life, including makeup products that you love. It's that sort of consistency that injects a little comfort and order in a chaotic world. When a brand discontinues or updates a product, it can lead to a lot of makeup anxiety.
But it's worth remembering that Kat Von D Beauty changes have often resulted in quality improvements to popular products.
Remember, Von D recently reformulated her line to be entirely vegan, so that every product fell in line with her ardent animal sympathies. Last year, she also changed the beloved Lock-it Foundation packaging to be more user-friendly and added 13 more shades a move toward inclusivity. Von D didn't tinker with the ace formula, though. It was stellar as is.
Yes, Kat and co. changing the Studded Kiss formula is much more drastic than swapping out packaging. Perhaps the refresh will result in a smoother, more pigmented, and more beautiful range of lippies that last all day. The brand's Everlasting Liquid Lippies don't budge, unlike the current Studded Kiss formula. The brand could be aiming to mimic that quality.
We'll just have to wait and see how Studded Kiss V. 2.0 shakes out.
