Meredith Is Warming To Riggs On 'Grey's Anatomy'

It’s here! The day is here! Meredith Grey is finally ready to move on from the death of McDreamy and start at least having dinner with other people. If you’re a Grey’s Anatomy fan like I am, you know that this is a big deal. This woman couldn’t even get out of bed to take care of her kids when Derek died, so the fact that she can have dinner with another man is a big deal. Meredith and Riggs finally made a date on Grey’s Anatomy, and I really hope this whole thing goes well for these two.

Despite his faults (of which some at Grey Sloan think there are many; I am on the fence), Riggs is a man that seems to know what he wants. That want, in this case, is Meredith Grey. He likes her, not just because they had sex in his car in the parking lot of the hospital. Riggs likes Meredith, and he’s been trying to convince her to let him take her out for weeks (months! Seasons!) now. What has Meredith got to lose? Her excuses were always pretty flimsy, in my opinion. I think she thought that Riggs just wasn’t serious enough, and she is a woman with a serious life. Sure, that’s true, but she’s not old and decayed. She’s young and alive, even though she has three children. Live a little, Meredith!

Luckily for Meredith (and for us viewers at home), Riggs did a 10 Things I Hate About You-esque speech about all of the things he likes about Meredith (this included his admitting that he does things specifically to see her smile, which was cute), and I guess this won her over. Truthfully, Meredith isn’t use to love being easy. She had crappy relationships with both of her parents, and let’s not pretend that finally ending up with Derek was a walk in the part. Yeah, yeah, ferryboats and all that, but also Addison and the nurses and the trial and blah blah blah. Meredith doesn’t know how to be loved, so it’s not a surprise that she didn’t know what to do with Riggs’ being so forward about his feelings for her. This could be the start of something great for Meredith and Riggs, but Meredith just has to be open to it.
