Buying This Lipstick Helps Support Victims Of The Charlottesville Attack

Beauty items can be agents of change. I'm not talking about a "power" lipstick color or how "on-fleek" your winged liner is. I'm talking about beauty products that make an impact by giving back. And there's one lipstick that is doing just that for victims of the recent Charlottesville Attack.

From now through the end of August, Lipslut is donating all proceeds from their F*ck Trump Lipstick to Charlottesville Attack victims. If you are going to buy lipstick this month, you should really make it this one.

On Aug. 12, a car driven by a white supremacist slammed into counter-protesters in Charlottesville, VA after days long clashes between alt-right and progressive protestors. One woman was killed in the attack, and 19 others were injured.

If you're angry about the events and unsure how to help, Lipslut's product is a small but worthy place to start. The company gives you the chance to get a gorgeous neutral lipstick, and the opportunity to make an impact at the same time.

While a tube of lipstick can't change the world, it can make a statement -- both through politics and fashion.

If you're not familiar with Lipslut, the charitable angle is nothing new to the brand. Normally, Lipslut donates 50 percent proceeds to one of nine charities. Each customer get to pick their favorite 501(c)(3) off a pre-selected list.

The charitable organizations in Lipslut's regular line-up include the American Civil Liberties Union, The Center For Reproductive Rights, Human Right Campaign, Planned Parenthood, and National Organization for Women.

While you can still choose to donate 50 percent to one of these nine charities in August, the tenth choice of "Charlottesville" will donate 100 percent of proceeds to victims.

"At the end of August, we plan to assess which organizations and individuals are in need, and reach out to our followers on social media to get a sense of what they’d like to see," a Lipslut rep tells Bustle about where exactly the donations will go. "We will most likely donate directly to victims’ medical funds, as well as local organizations such as Albemarle-Charlottesville NAACP, BLM Charlottesville, and several others in the area."

The brand, which launched in the aftermath of the election to oppose President Doanld Trump, has already raised a cool $25,000 for charity, according to Lipslut reps.

There's currently only one shade available from the brand -- a neutral pink shade that looks incredible on a wide variety of skin tones. According to their social media, Lipslut will also be coming out with glosses in the near future.

If lipstick isn't your thing, there's always the option to donate to Charlottesville victims directly as well. Many families have set up verified crowdfunding pages, or you can opt to support an anti-hate organization of your choice.
