Leighton Meester & Adam Brody Could Care Less That Blair & Seth Are Married
There are a ton of Gossip Girl and The O.C. fans who just can’t get over the fact that Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen got married in real life, but that enthusiasm isn't something the actors who brought those characters to life share with fans. Leighton Meester and Adam Brody don't get the fan excitement surrounding their marriage, they admitted to Entertainment Tonight in Los Angeles Tuesday, where they served lunches to children and promoted Feeding America.
After being asked if they "embrace the fact that Seth and Blair ended up together," Brody said, "Occasionally." Meester agreed and said, "Yeah, maybe occasionally. Not in the same way that you do." Brody added, "Once a year, we have a Seth and Blair day and we dress up..." He's obviously joking.
Meester admitted that, really, they could care less and are totally unfazed by it all. "It doesn't excite us, I think, because we're just human beings... but it's exciting to us that it's exciting to you." She continued, "It’s cool." Hey, at least she is happy that the fans get so much from their romance.
If you're not pleased with her answer, take a moment to think about it. Her response is absolutely understandable. Neither she nor Brody are the roles they once played on television. They are just two people who fell in love and got married. They aren't actually Blair and Seth. It would also be kind of weird if they saw themselves as their characters and went around saying, "Hey, it's us. We're Blair and Seth from those two shows and we got married in real life."
To hit home even further how they truly don't care that the characters who put them on the map are married IRL, take a moment to check out Meester's facial expressions during the interview.
How She First Reacted
She's all like, "Really, this is what you're asking us right now?"
She Just Looks Confused
It doesn't look like she's really sure how to answer the question.
Finally, She Can't Help But Laugh
Granted, she's mainly laughing at Brody's sarcastic response, which makes this all the more perfect.
To make matters somewhat worse for those fans who might be upset over all of this, Meester and Brody even confessed that they've never watched each other's shows. That's right, she has never seen The O.C. and he has never binged Gossip Girl.
As disappointing as their responses might be to some, people should just be thankful that they even answered the question, especially at an event where they were raising awareness for a worthy cause. This is the first time they've given an interview together since their 2014 secret wedding. So, yeah, let's just be grateful the adorable couple opened up as much as they did.
