These Game of Thrones stars are not taking their relationship to the next level, so you can ignore all of those rumors. Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are not engaged, a rep for Harington confirmed to the U.K.'s Metro with a statement simply saying, "They are not engaged." If or when the couple wanted you to know about their love life, they would most likely let you know on their own terms.
Life & Style reported Thursday that Harington proposed to Leslie by cooking her a "romantic candlelight dinner" and she then "burst into tears and immediately said yes!" The report obviously fueled the engagement rumors, but when it comes to anything about their relationship, it's best to take it with a grain of salt — unless it comes straight from their mouths.
The two have been dating for, well, it's not really known. It's suspected that they've been seeing each other romantically since possibly around 2012 when they met while filming GoT. They are extremely tight-lipped about their relationship.
So much so that, while chatting with Esquire in May, Harington wouldn't even reveal how long they've been together. The actor, known for playing Jon Snow, refused to elaborate on their relationship saying,
It's as much her relationship as it is mine and I can't speak for both of us. But yeah, we are very, very happy. So that's what I'll say about that.
However, in the same Esquire interview, the 30-year-old revealed that he and Leslie were looking for a place together in New York.
It wasn't until April 2016 that they even made their relationship public while on the red carpet for the Olivier Awards. They did not discuss it with reporters, but based on them holding hands and sharing a kiss, according to Vanity Fair, it sure looked like they were more than co-stars.
Even though they keep certain details private and only discuss their romance to a certain extent, they do talk about it at times. For example, Leslie spoke with ITV's This Morning in August 2016 about what it's like dating Harington, especially when they both have such busy schedules. "It's kind of an embarrassment of riches, I suppose, if both of us are working, and that's a lovely thing to be involved and to be busy," she said. "But, yes, I suppose you make it work. FaceTime is a must."
Really, when they comment on their relationship, the GoT stars do it in a subtle way showing that they prefer to keep their personal lives close to the chest. So next time you hear any engagement rumors, it's best not to jump to any conclusions.
