'Kingsman: The Golden Circle' Teaser Isn't Much To Go On
Kingsman actor Taron Egerton has decided that today is the perfect day to mess with fans of the British spy movie that pushed him to fame and its upcoming sequel. The Welsh gent took to Twitter to share a brief teaser of the trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle on April 18, 2017 — and I mean brief. I'm talking, "if you blink you'll miss Julianne Moore as the evil Poppy" brief. It's the kind of brief that ensures the longest section is a title card that reads "Kingsman: The Golden Circle." It's the kind of brief that makes you really wish you had more to go on or a slow-motion viewing — dare I say a full trailer (I dare!)? For now, I guess you'll have to get that pause-finger ready so you can take a look at some of the action-packed moments.
Egerton, who plays newbie spy Gary "Eggsy" Unwin in the franchise teased fans on Twitter with the short teaser captioned it, "Just a little taste, bruv. A gift from MV. #Kingsman." The "MV" in the tweet refers to Matthew Vaughn, the co-writer and director of the Kinsgman franchise who apparently created the teasing teaser. The short clip boasts some action-packed moments as well as a little bit of subliminal messaging — the tagline "a proper spy movie" can be detected throughout the video. The whole thing isn't a lot to go on, but it is certainly thrilling.
The Golden Circle, which is set for release September 29, 2017 follows the Kingsman after their headquarters is destroyed and the world is taken hostage by the infamous mastermind and global businesswoman, Poppy and her mysterious New World Order organization, "The Golden Circle." Luckily for the British spies, they find out that they have allies across the pond, a super secret organization from the U.S. known as the Statesman which boasts the likes of characters played by Channing Tatum and Halle Berry. Secret agents from both agencies must work together in a battle of physical strength and mental agility (and probably spy suaveness) to defeat the big bad.
This taste of the "proper spy movie" is all well and good, but I think we could all really use a proper spy movie trailer. Stay tuned friends, it's bound to happen eventually!
